As long as we stay tied up to the dock, we will always have something new to buy or something to fix. Lovisa is ready but she is a sailboat and a sailboat always needs something. We need to go now!
It is also quite interesting how much things we believe we need when we live on land and suddenly we are fine to leave everything behind, clothes, furnitures, books. Basically everything that cannot fit on a 33 foot sailboat.
We left our boat spot in Kalvholmen on June 11 under heavy clouds and rain after the visit of Maria’s step mother who came to say goodbye and with a “Princess tårta” (a Swedish cake).
We are now on our way! Cheer up for the sailors !
For our first stop we chose Ämtö. Ämtö is a natural harbor quite close to our home harbor in the Gryt archipelago. It is quite quite well protected from the winds coming from almost all directions . Perfect for a first windy night. We anchored there in the middle of the afternoon and enjoyed the rest of the day alone in the bay … until the tour boat “Ellen af Harstena” appeared in the bay with loud music. A lot of happy people onboard, drinking beer and maybe something else. From the calm place to a party place in a blink of an eye. They stayed only for 30 minutes so we could enjoy the rest of the evening alone again.
The plan for the next day was to enjoy a calm morning in Ämtö and before lunch head toward Stugviken, another natural harbor in Gryt Archipelago. Instead, we ended up rushing the departure, no time to take a shower (at least for Maria) and even to brush teeth as we realized that the anchor lost grip in the strong wind. We were constrained to leave in a bit of a rush.
Anyway, we headed down toward Stugviken that we reached after 3 hours, and we stayed there overnight.
We departed towards Gotland 4 am in the following morning to catch the northerly winds and avoid to fall into the weaker winds forecasted later during the day between mainland and Gotland. We took breakfast and enjoyed a nice sail under Gennaker nearly all the way to Gotland.

Actually this is something we will have to check. We will be mostly in harbors on our way down to Canary Islands but in Caribbean it will be mostly anchor so we will need to find something good.

une petite question: quels usages vous faites de l’eau de mer ? Chasse d’eau, vaisselle, lavage pont ?
Salut Joseph! Oui on utilise l’eau de mer pour ça. On a aussi une prise d’eau de mer pour le refroisissement du moteur. Sinon on a aussi un déssaleur à bord (qu’on a pas encore testé) et du coup on pourra produire de l’eau douce avec l’eau de mer qu’on pompe par une des prise d’eau de mer.
